Hi everyone:

sbQA¢s good friend, Alan A. is offering his yacht for us to hang out and watch the boat race from his boat.  If you have not been to Alan¢s boat, it is a 52 foot yacht (not a sail boat!) to sbQA family again this year.  His yacht will be in dock, not moving at all.  We will meet at Pittsburg Marina at 10 am.

Since it is a free event, we will not be providing any food or drinks.  Please bring your own.

After the boat race, we will go to the yacht club and look at some boats.

We need to carpool as much as we can as there will be many cars that weekend.

Thank you.

Ed

SBQA Rap: The Queer Asian/Pacific Islander Male:
Concepts of Beauty

Date: Tuesday, September 9, 2008
Time: 7:00pm
Presented by Robert I.

Come to the next SBQA Rap on September 9, 2008 where we will delve into a conversation about Queer Asian/Pacific Islander Male Beauty.

What is beauty?
What is sexyness?
What does it mean to be beautiful and sexy as a Queer Asian/Pacific Islander (API) male?
How does the Queer API Community(ies) define beauty?
What issues are there surrounding beauty for APIs who identify as transgender (FTM) or Intersex?
What issues are there surrounding beauty for multiracial API males?
Where do you find/see images of Queer API Male “beauty”?
How do you or your friends define beauty?

These are just a few questions to get your thoughts going as we share perspectives with each other on Tuesday night. Afterwards, be sure to join us for dinner afterwards at yet another favorite San Jose eatery!

Due to the sensitive topics and subjects we discuss at our rap sessions which often times are only applicable to Queer Asian/Pacific Islanders (APIs), we appreciate the understanding of our non-API friends and allies to join us at all other sbQA events. SBQA raps are a safe and empowering space for Queer APIs.

Join SBQA in Tapei for Pride!
Hi everyone:

Four of us are flying to Taipei on or about 25 Sept.  We will join two other sbQA members in Taipei and march in this year’s Taipei Pride.  David H. will register for us and we shall march as sbQA from San Jose , CA. , U.S.A.  I will bring our sbQA banner with me.

Taipei has many very large GLBT gatherings in Asia .  Taipei Pride is one of them.  Taipei Pride website link is:  http://twpride. net.  It is in Chinese.

If you are interested in attending, please let me know as soon as possible.  I have inquired a couple reasonable hotels near Taipei train station.

I will be in Taipei 25 Sept to 1 Oct 2008.  David H. and I will try to be your Taipei city tour guide.  If you plan to visit other parts of Taiwan while you are here, Hilbert can give you some leads.  Hilbert and his partner will arrive a week earlier and tour around the island.

Thank you.
